The joy of visiting Disneyland as an adult

If you were offered the chance to escape to a world where dreams became reality, I’m willing to bet you would jump at the chance. Even though we adults wouldn’t admit it freely, we would love to escape from our dismal worlds and be part of something that makes us feel like children again.

Think about the last time you were having a hard time at your job and you started daydreaming about removing yourself to some far-off place. Where was that place? What did it look like? Did it have some semblance of childhood innocence?

You might know by now where I am going with this. I am referring to the magical place that is Disneyland. We take our kids there, but secretly, we want to go there to experience the fun we used to feel before we had to grow up. It’s really a nostalgic thing.

I had the chance to buy some Disneyland Tickets so I could visit there last year. It really felt like I was given another chance to be a child. I pranced around like a little schoolboy, took pictures with Mickey, ate cotton candy until I hurled, and ran to each ride so I would not have to wait in lines. Throughout all this, my wife looked at me like I was insane, and even threatened to leave the park. I begged her pretty please could we not leave the park, and she consented. But she did say that I would have to stop talking in that eight year old voice that I tend to use when I visit Disneyland.
