My experience at Disneyland when I was a kid

When I was 8 years old, I didn’t know the meaning of happiness. I thought happiness might be a frosted birthday cake or a brand new goldfish. Then one day my parents came home and told me that we were going to a place called Disneyland. I knew the Disney characters, but I never knew there was a land full of them.

I could barely contain my excitement as we made the drive to southern California. Except for when we passed through Barstow – I could have done without that part. When we got to Disneyland, I was shocked to see that the Disney characters were real, and they were huge. They had huge heads so you could see them coming from far away. They were the nicest things I had ever met. I was able to take pictures with them whenever I wanted. It was great.

My parents took me on most of the rides that I was tall enough for. I remember loving Captain EO and the pirates of the Caribbean. I didn’t like the haunted house so much. I think I actually wet my pants on that one.

Looking back, my parents sacrificed a lot to take me to Disneyland. Well, they didn’t actually sacrifice that much. They got their tickets at one of the discount sites so they really didn’t spend a whole lot of money. They probably spent more in gas, food, and clothing stain remover than they paid for the Disneyland tickets. But regardless, it left me with memories that I will never forget.
