The need to follow-up the status of passport application
Waiting time is actually waste of time. Why? Most of the time, while waiting, there is nothing else you can do. The worst is standing in line waiting for your turn. Daily life involves a lot of waiting just like waiting for your turn in the bathroom. These are instances where you can’t do a follow-up because you know and see what’s happening in front. In the cases where you have already submitted an application and do not have to wait in line, the wait can be more agonizing. This would be as in the case of a passport application. It could really take time and longer for first timers. Government agencies that have on line facilities can make it convenient to make passport enquiry status. Secure websites allow applicants to view their status on line. In some other cases, if the agency has telephone support, a call can be made to inquire about the status of your passport application.
The fastest way to follow-up on passport current status will either be through telephone or on line. For government agencies that have advanced technology in processing passport applications they should be able to provide the current status on line. In times that their website is not updated, they would have email support to provide the information on current status within 72 hours or less. Many processes are now being done on line or through the internet. So, should the volume being done on line is much greater than normal, updates could be delayed. That’s aside from possible glitches in the process. Without telephone or email support of an agency issuing passports, calling their direct lines could be frustrating just for follow-up.
