Short London Breaks perpetually welcomes the opportunity to push the satisfying outdoors life – and
perchance a city in the capital doesnt immediately lend itself to persuasions of walking out
and taking in some fresh air, but with the maturation and investiture that has taken place over the past few years into the Thames
walk way, thats just what you can do on a promising unclouded day like now.
If you’re simply in the metropolis for the weekend then the succeeding walk ticks lots of assorted boxes – sight-seeing opportunities,
culinary dainties, civilisation, and best of all, sweet on the budget!
If youre approaching the walk by London Undergorund or National Rail then Id recommend setting out at either London Bridge or Borough stations.
Arriving down of either of those steer North until you find yourself at the the River Thames.
Why not take off your by launching out onto London Bridge itself? Although it doesnt have the beauty of many of the bridges
it does afford a fantastic place to take exposures of Tower Bridge as well as The Tower of London on the North Bank of the Thames.
Then maneuvering west along the river once more you shouldnt neglect a perusal around Borough Market – a serious
treat for all the bon vivant out there who require inspiration or just something fantastic to snack on.
The food market specialises in goods from tiny societies and producers from round the UK – but it also is
a tremendous place to detect olives from Greeece, cheese from France, Ostrich from South Africa, chillies from Brazil – the list is endless.
Its a wondrous place to pick up a sandwich for later on in your walking besides.
Extending along back to the river you’ll see some of the foremost views of the river from here – with the City of London
offering its nicest enchanting face, including the Lloyds Building, the Gherkin,St Pauls, the Barbican etc etc.
There are a of inexpensive restaurants along the river walk at this level – pizza, Greek, up market burger shops as well – so
if youre in the market for a mid-price repast as a treat this is a good site to choose, and you can savour the river sights at the same time.
Some of the restaurant on here are in the larger groups and so its worthwhile visiting out their sites
for discount coupons and special offers – try Pizza Express, The Real Greek, the Gourmet Burger Kitchen for instance.
Continuing along the Thames Path then you’ll shortly arrive at the rebuilt Globe Theatre on your left and its worth dropping by and looking out for
the special ticket offers. They do phenomenal standing tickets for the evening performances and given the architecture and
aura of the building at around £5 it makes for a memorable night’s amusement even if plays arent your accustomed thing.
Continuiung our amble along the SOuth Bank, arriving at the Millenium Bridge you’re confronted with a couple of alternatives.
Simply walking out onto the bridge, again, gives some easy photograph chances, but it also permits you to deviate over to St Pauls Cathedral and experience
Christopher Wren’s creation.
Returning to the Southside there’s more free culture available in the form of the Tate Modern – which always has
a central exhibit in the main hall which generally delights even the most disinterested art viewer.
Just the above should fill at least three hours of your morning, but if youre still keen to hit the pavement more then continue along the river to the South Bank
complex – go into the Royal Festival Hall, up to the 6th floor balcony and savor some of the best views of London. Dont forget to take your camera with you
and this is an afternoon when the budget wont be hit disadvantageously at all!.
