Camden Maine - the place to be

12 March 2010

Camden is an affluent coastal town located at the foot of Camden Hills. It is described as “where the mountains meet the sea,” and is one major tourist hotspot in the country. Camden is a great getaway as it has breathtaking views and scenery, a venue for many recreational activities, and a small town ambience that is very rare nowadays. The people of Camden are warm and friendly, and are celebratory of their cultural heritage and preserving their traditions. The town is a delightful mix of the old and the new, its unique charm drawing people to come visit, again and again.

Ships of all kinds come and go from Camden Harbor. A large fleet of windjammers dock here daily, offering their services to tourists who wish to sail and explore more of the town by water. This business has been in operation since the 1930s, a proud tradition that is still going strong today. An annual celebration, the Camden Windjammer Festival, is hosted by the community every Labor Day weekend. Visitors can get to board and explore these ships, watch talent shows, and attend the concerts.

During the summer season, there are a lot of arts and crafts shows, auctions, and theater performances. You can check out the Camden Opera House for live performances of renowned artists. Learn a new skill and sign up for kayaking lessons or rock climbing activities. You have the choice of several beaches in Camden. For those who like a more secluded setting, Barrett’s Cove at Megunticook is a perfect location. A busier beach is the Laite Memorial Beach, just right on Bay View Street. Aside from swimming, visitors can enjoy picnicking on the adjacent grounds, go sightseeing, or join fishing trips offered by boats around the area.

Maine is the lobster capital of the world and once you’re there, you have to have a lobster meal at least once during your stay. Better yet, you can participate in the annual lobster festival held every August in nearby Rockland. Be sure to bring a camera and a good appetite.

Come by during December and see the town transform into a Christmas wonderland that looks like it came right out from a storybook. Santa arrives in style, not with the usual reindeers but a aboard a lobster ship. There are lots of caroling, sleigh rides, skiing, and a traditional community ice carving event.

Tourists will never have to worry about where to stay as there are lodgings available everywhere; Camden maine hotels, charming inns, and classic bed and breakfasts. They offer affordable rates and each offer something different from the others. Staying at these Camden Maine hotels is also very convenient as most are strategically located within short distances of most tourist attractions. Go search for them online and you will see that these tourist accommodations are as lovely and picturesque as the whole town itself.

Relax and Rejuvenate at Montezuma Costa Rica

10 March 2010

Costa Rica is well known as known as a place for honeymoons and romantic getaways. This is due to the fact that the country is blessed with many wonderful natural attractions such as the pristine and unpolluted beaches and oceans, lush forest, abundance of wildlife both on the land and sea, stunning landscapes and amazing scenery. So it is little wonder that tourism is one of the major drivers of the economy here.

I have the privilege to visit Costa Rica with my wife a bout 3 years ago for our honeymoon. Like everyone else we stayed at the coastal towns and beaches. The soothing sound of the waves and breezy wind really help us to relax and unwind on our Costa Rica honeymoon. Sure it was romantic as well as we had candle light dinners on the beach while listening to serenades, it is almost like a scene from the romantic novels really. However to me, Costa Rica is more than that as the natural surroundings and calm environment actually helps us to relax and rejuvenate our tired bodies and minds. We were staying at Montezuma Costa Rica at the Nicoya Peninsula which is a renowned for its wildlife reserves and tranquil beaches and surroundings. One of the first things that we did was to have a full body massage on the beach by the hotel’s skillful masseurs. The massage was great and really help us to un-cord all the tired tissues and muscles in our bodies. Furthermore having an outdoor massage beside the sea was really refreshing and has a calming effect on our bodies and minds. Montezuma Costa Rica is also a great place for other activities such as horseback riding that takes you through a few beaches and ends with lunch at an amazing waterfall. Other than that there is also the Cabo Blanco and Curu nature reserves to remind us of the wonderful resources that we have on earth that we should help to preserve for the sake of  our future generations.

London Short Breaks 50 Free Fun Days Out - Go To The British Musuem

09 March 2010

Casting aside any ethical or moral issues for the second, as a visitor to London one thing every one must m

ake time for is a visit to the British Museum. As the widest empire the earth has ever acknowledged the British explorers/conquerors/looters (whichever word you like to use) fetched back from the distant reaches of their empire artefacts and historical gems the likes of which had ne’er been earlier.

The tremendous thing about the British Museum - apart from the fact that entrance is free and so makes for a wondrous day out with the mob, (and invaluable on one of those extraordinary rainy  days we now and again get in London) is that there really is something for everyone. No child can ever pass past the venerable embalmed dead bodies of Egyptian mummys without a kick and know just what they are looking at.

Want to see a perfectly preserved trunk (apart from a little discolouring and the fact that he’s squashed) that has lain in a peat bog for almost 2000 years? Then get on to the British Museum.

Want to see one of the most hottly contested museum artifacts in the world before they get reverted to Athens? Then go a long and see the Elgin Marbles which are exposed in astounding beauty with their mountings and lightings in their own ordained room on the ground story.

The museum draws its originations back to 1753 when an act of Parliament formally accepted the donation (at a cost of £20,000 admittedly) from Sir Hans  Sloane, a personal assembling of over 71,000 objects. Over the succeeding hundred years or so, the wealthiness of the Empire allowed itself the luxury of stretching this collection with numerous ‘gentlemen’ collectors and archeologists bringing back rarities and ancient gems from around the Earth.

The opening hours are 10.00 to 17.30 daily and entrance is free - apart from limited expos - and with audio tours in 10 various languages, it really does tender an unbelievable day out for every visitant to our city. See the Musuems fascinating website for details of special plans and inside information of work they are doing around the world to encourage and conserve the inheritance of hundreds of states!

What to Think About When Planning a Honeymoon

08 March 2010

After the engagement ring has been put on her finger the real work begins.  Your list will probably look like this:  Plan wedding, plan rehearsal, plan reception, plan honeymoon.  Out of all of these the plan honeymoon probably looks the easiest but don’t be fooled, it’s sometimes one of the hardest.  Some things you might want to keep in mind are:

Budget - It’s very important to decide on a budget for your honeymoon and then make sure to stick to it.  Deciding the budget first will may narrow down your destination choices.

Type - There are different types of honeymoons available.  A beach, a cruise, skiing, sporting, or romantic are just a few of the choices available.

Length - You will both need to check with your work and if you have children or animals you may need to work something out for their car and these things may dictate how long you can be gone for your honeymoon.

Destination - Once you have agreed on a budget and the type of honeymoon you want you can then begin thinking about the choice of being in the US or traveling internationally.

Time - One of the biggest problems people come up against is not allowing themselves enough time to plan the honeymoon which can lead to less than desirable results.  Also remember that if you will be traveling abroad you need to make sure to allow time for your travel documents to be completed.

Necessary Information - It’s always a good idea to let the places that you will be staying at know that you are honeymooners as most places typically like to treat you to little surprises to make your honeymoon extra special.

Travel Money - It’s best to take more money than you think you will need just to be on the safe side.  Also, depending on where you will be traveling, you will need to decide if you will be using cash, credit cards or traveler’s checks.

Down Time - You may be tempted to try to see everything while you are on your honeymoon but remember to schedule some down time for relaxation.  You may find that you are exhausted after all of the running around for the wedding and traveling for the honeymoon and a nice quiet day or night will keep your energy level up so that you can enjoy the rest of your honeymoon.

As you can see there is a lot of thought that goes into planning a honeymoon and for this reason many people choose to have someone else plan it for them.  This is a very good idea and typically will not cost extra money and may actually save you money because they should know some tricks of the trade.  The main thing is to relax and enjoy this wonderful time with your new spouse.

I liked a girl, so I wanted to impress her

08 March 2010

While I was in college, there was this girl that I really liked, and I wanted to do anything that I could to impress her. I found out she was really into the ocean and sailing, so I made the decision to learn how to sail. Therefore, I started looking at different sailing courses I could take, and I quickly found out that I needed to take quite a few rya courses to get to the skill level that I would need to be to take the girl that I liked out for a sail.

I went down to the beach and got in touch with the day skipper there to see if there were any sailing courses that were starting soon that I could take. As luck would have it, the day skipper told me that he was starting a set of RYA courses in the next couple of weeks. He said it was an eight-week course that would teach me how to sail a vessel on my own. It sounded like the exact kind of sailing courses that I needed to sail on my own.

I started the RYA courses, with the day skipper as my teacher, fairly quickly after I signed up for the classes. As I took the classes, I found that I really enjoyed sailing, so I was able to learn quickly and without too much trouble. At the end of the classes, I was able to sail on my own, so I finally asked that girl out. I took her sailing, and I think that it went really well. She and I have been together ever since that first day and will be getting married soon.

An Educational Trip through Route 66

06 March 2010

Each year my family and I always try to take a vacation together. There are many different places to go to, but I don’t want our trips to be ordinary. I also don’t want to be filling my children with days of fun that they can’t learn from. We always make it a point to visit a place that has a lot that they can learn about.

This year we were trying to think about where to go and one of our first choices was a road trip on the Mother Road. This historic scene has so much to offer especially in terms of learning about the past. I know that the kids will enjoy going through the different tourist traps that are still present. For sure my husband will be looking forward to eating at the grease pots and I can’t wait to revisit the Native American villages and settlements there.

When it comes to finding all these different places and providing information, I’m not too sure how well I’ll do. It’s a good thing that there are many different Route 66 tours that are offered. I’ve heard that some parts of the road end up right in neighborhoods and unexpected places. I really don’t want to be wasting time finding our way around. What’s more, I’m sure that the guides will be able to give my children all the details about the different places; not to mention answer all their questions!

I’m really looking forward to going on this road trip. I’m not too sure if the kids are half as excited as I am, after all what can they get our of visitng an old road? Well they are surely going to be in for a big surprise. I thought that I would give them a little booster to get them interested in the trip and the place a little bit more. I’ll be making them watch that Disney cartoon that features cars on Route 66 itself. I know that they’ve already wathed this before and enjoyed it. This time I’ll try to give them bits and pieces of information. I’m sure that this will be enough to get them excited about seeing the place in person.

Brighton Horses and White Witches and Warlocks?

06 March 2010

Brighton congratulates itself on its variety, and the point that we lionize so many distinct cultures and traditions, which is why in the constabularies department’s contemporary probes witchery is being order under the magnifying glass of our metropolis detectives!

During the past few weeks and months there has been a couple of occurances affecting the braiding of horses heads of hair. The lacing is unobjectionable enough to view  and icons exposed in The Argus present something analogous to the handwork of minors just honing their hair dressing talents on someone more ready than their infant sidekicks or sisters. But it seems the police forces are having to retain an open idea on this and let in the possiblity that it may be  the handwork of localized enchantresses, the plaiting being a conventional way of noting the horse as ‘ours’ or ’special’.

That heightens the worry that the witch or warlock in question may be either a white witch/warlock or a black witch/warlock. So a bit of a headache there for the horse possessors who love their creatures and so would clearly be worried that anyone could hold any ill intent towards these lovely animals!

Here at Brighton Short Breaks, where we unwaveringly repute any demonic intention or motifs from any of our city’s dwellers so applaud the fancy of our marvelous sisters and brothers  darting about the countryside and looking to the hair style of the localized bucks by Moon!

If you have any info or can shed any light on this entertaining field then Brighton Short Breaks would love to get word from you. One of the greatest things about life and loving in Brighton is the grand wealth of reports that rise in the town. Poring Over the stories of The Argus will ever provide a intriguing insight into the full array of types and traditions in our metropolis. Perchance its all the extraordinary ocean air that makes our masses so marvellous.

Montezuma Costa Rica is a paradise

04 March 2010

My girlfriend and I were in Costa Rica last year for our Christmas holidays. It was our first time in Costa Rica although we have been to the Caribbean Islands and Mexico so being in a tropical country was not entirely new to us. Planning for Costa Rica trip was not that difficult and you do not even need a travel agent as they are plenty of online websites that you refer to. We actually booked our flight tickets and made our hotel reservation on the Internet and it was breeze. We chose to go in December which was the peak season but it was the only time that we had and furthermore it was the dry season so we got plenty of sunshine although things were a little bit more expensive than usual. If you really are on a tight budget, you may want to consider going between May and Nov which is the off peak as well as rainy season. Anyway a little bit of rain here and there won’t kill you. We had a fantastic time there and we are already making plans for a Costa Rica honeymoon after our wedding at the end of year. There are so places to visit in Costa that we just didn’t have time to visit them all.

Since we only had 1 week, we had to plan properly and be sure on where we wanted to visit. Since we are both nature lovers so we decided that we would visit the famous Caba Blanco and Curu nature reserves in Nicoya Peninsula. We took a flight from San Jose to Tambor and then made our way to Montezuma. We sort of madeMontezuma Costa Rica as our base and would make day trips to the surrounding areas such as the reserves, Mal Pais and Santa Teresa which are popular among surfers. Montezuma Costa Rica is both relaxing and happening at the same time. It is pretty slow and laid back on the weekdays as you could just sit back and relax the whole day at Montezuma beach. However the scene changes dramatically over the weekend when the party crowds from the city arrive to join in the wild parties in town. Since we are both not party animals, we decided to spend the we weekend at the nearby Santa Teresa which was pretty nice as it was uncrowded and there are many trendy restaurants and hotels in the little town.
